The Dr Atkins Diet Plan is a diet based on a high consumption of protein and fats while keeping carbohydrates to a minimum. Keeping carbohydrates to a minimum is an absolute necessity when it comes to attaining fat loss results. Keeping carbohydrates to a minimum is an absolute necessity when it comes to attaining fat loss results because carbohydrates are the biggest reason for our society’s weight problems. The Dr Atkins Diet Plan was the first to recognize this problem and has taken nothing but flack for it ever since.
Carbohydrates are fattening and therefore detrimental to the fat loss process because like all excess fats, all excess carbohydrates end up stored as body fat tissue. Not only are carbohydrates detrimental to the fat loss process because they are fattening but also because they are addicting and are almost always consumed to excess. The Dr Atkins Diet Plan remedies this situation by basically forcing people to get over their addiction to carbohydrates. The Dr Atkins Diet Plan gets people over their addiction to carbohydrates the hard way by not allowing much if any to be consumed (depending on the day).
Although keeping one’s intake of carbohydrates to a minimum is incredibly effective for attaining fat loss results it is much more difficult than it may first seem. So difficult in fact that the vast majority of overweight dieters will not be able to handle the Dr Atkins Diet Plan. At least the vast majority of overweight dieters will not be able to handle the Dr Atkins Diet Plan long enough to get the desired results. This based on the fact that getting over an addiction to carbohydrates so as to be able to attain fat loss results is as difficult as a drug addict quitting drugs or an alcoholic quitting drinking.
Most dieters will not be able to make it through the initial break in period that goes hand in hand with the Dr Atkins Diet Plan because of the negative side effects (withdrawal symptoms) associated with getting over one’s addiction to carbohydrates. The negative side effects (withdrawal symptoms) that go hand in hand with the Dr Atkins Diet Plan during the initial break in period include headaches, irritability, sleeplessness, total lack of energy, cravings for carbohydrates, etc. Those who can withstand these withdrawal symptoms will be rewarded with fast fat loss results. Arguably the fastest fat loss results possible.
The Dr Atkins Diet Plan gets a bad name from some people not only because of the withdrawal symptoms but also because it is low to non-existent in the consumption of healthy fruits and vegetables. Many people see the consumption of healthy fruits and vegetables as being a big part of the fat loss process. Which can be true to an extent but the typical overweight person who begins the Dr Atkins Diet Plan does not consume healthy fruits and vegetables in their normal daily lives anyway. Healthy fruits and vegetables are not necessary for attaining fat loss results because in today’s world we can simply swallow a pill and our bodies will be fortified with all of our required daily nutrients, vitamins and minerals.
Regardless of what the nay sayer’s might say, the Dr Atkins Diet Plan is as effective a diet as any out there. Now this does not mean that this diet should be used by everyone seeking fat loss results because everyone is different and responds differently to diet styles depending on the foods they are accustomed to eating. But if you are the type of person who can suck it up so to speak for a week or two until the withdrawal symptoms pass you will be more than happy with your fat loss results. If however the Dr Atkins Diet Plan is too difficult or extreme then there are other diets out there equally as effective yet easier to handle including the Caveman Diet, the Fat Burning Diet and the Zone Diet.
