Low carb diets are currently the most commonly used diets around. They are currently the most commonly used diets around because they are effective for attaining fat burning results. They are effective for attaining fat burning results because they keep the two types of calories that are fattening to a minimum. That being fats and especially carbohydrates, hence the name low carb diets.
Low carb diets keep the two types of fattening calories to a minimum (fats and carbohydrates) while increasing the consumption of non-fattening calories (protein). This is the key to fat burning. This is the key to fat burning because little to no fattening calories will be consumed while non-fattening calories (protein) will. Which makes the use of low carb diets very effective because body fat tissue will not be stored while at the same time it will be burned.
Technically speaking, low carb diets could also be called high protein diets. Low carb diets could also be called high protein diets particularly since protein makes up the vast majority of calories. Not to mention that protein is arguably the most important part of the fat burning process because focusing one’s attention on consuming the vast majority of one’s calories in the form of protein will automatically keep fats and carbohydrates to a minimum. In other words, making sure to consume protein first and in larger than normal amounts will reduce one’s hunger so that he or she will not want to nor be able to consume excessive amounts of fats and carbohydrates which in turn leads to fat burning results.
But then again technically speaking, low carb diets are referred to as such because carbohydrates are by far the biggest reason for our society’s weight problems. Carbohydrates are just as fattening as are fats because just like excess fats excess carbohydrates will end up stored as body fat tissue so we must therefore decrease their consumption in order to attain effective fat burning results. Low carb diets are a necessity for the majority of people who simply consume too many carbohydrates and are actually addicted to them. Although they are a necessity the average carbohydrate addict will not be able to follow such diets for long enough periods of time to attain the guaranteed fat burning results.
The average carbohydrate addict will not be able to follow such diets for long enough periods of time to attain the guaranteed fat burning results because of the negative side effects. The negative side effects that come with the use of low carb diets include sleeplessness, irritability, headaches, sluggishness and nervousness. These negative side effects result from the use of low carb diets because A) we are accustomed to eating too many carbohydrates and B) when they are drastically reduced the body will react no differently than a drug addict quitting drugs. Meaning, there will be a short period of withdrawal that must be endured before long term fat burning results can be attained.
Although the negative side effects (withdrawal symptoms) must be endured before long term fat burning results can be attained they are rarely endured long enough. The negative side effects (withdrawal symptoms) caused by the use of low carb diets typically last for anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks. Which is typically a few days to a couple of weeks too long for the average user of low carb diets. Sad but true, the average overweight person is a carbohydrate addict and must first get over his or her addiction before he or she will be able to effectively attain the fat burning results desired from this type of dieting.
